How to read & scan your IESCO bill QR code

It takes under a minute and your bill never leaves your device. Here is exactly what happens at each step of scanning or reading your bill QR code.

  1. Open the QR code scanner

Go to the Bill QR Code Reader & Scanner. There is nothing to install and no account to create.

  2. Choose camera or upload

Tap Scan QR to point your phone camera at the bill, or tap Upload Bill to choose a saved photo or the official IESCO e-bill PDF. You can also drag and drop a file onto the panel on desktop.

  3. Let it find the right QR

An IESCO bill has several codes — a 1LINK payment QR, an e-fan QR and a barcode. The reader automatically ignores those and locks onto the charges-detail QR.

  4. Read your breakdown

You will see the total payable in a large meter, followed by consumer information, units consumed, energy and fixed charges, FPA, taxes (GST, income tax, electricity duty, TV fee) and tariff slabs.

  5. Save, print or share

Use Copy, CSV, Print / PDF or Share. Print produces a clean one-page summary.

Tip: a sharp, well-lit photo of the whole bill works better than a tight crop of just the QR, because the reader can compare codes and pick the correct one.

What the QR can and cannot tell you

The QR encodes the current month's charges. Arrears, surcharges applied after the due date, the consumer's name and the billing dates are printed on the paper bill but are not stored inside the QR, so they will not appear in the breakdown.
